Loaves & Fishes Christian Food Ministry, Inc.

Loaves & Fishes Christian Food Ministry harnesses the giving power of Alamance County’s community, whose continuous generosity enables us to provide food to more than 7,000 needy families each month. Each client speaks with a Loaves & Fishes volunteer, who helps assess the client’s need and, at the same time, determine underlying issues that prevent that individual from achieving financial stability. Families receive enough groceries to put a month’s worth of meals on the table, affording them the energy and resources to alleviate those issues that initially brought them to Loaves & Fishes.

Our mission is to offer assistance, encouragement and empowerment to those in need. Our hope is that we feed not only families, but also their potential to become financially independent.

Churches, businesses, grocery stores, civic organizations, schools and individuals have been supporting these goals since 1999, when eleven Burlington churches saw a necessity for food — and filled it. They, in conjunction with generous donors, founded Loaves & Fishes. Since then, no client has been turned away due to an absence of food on our shelves.
