H&R Block

H&R Block is the leading tax preparation company in the country with over 11,000 offices.  We also offer bookkeeping and payroll services to area small businesses in most locations.  Started by Henry and Richard Bloch in Kansas City, Missouri in 1955, H&R Block grew to be the industry leader by franchising.  Now, H&R Block owns half of the territories with the other half locally owned by independent franchisees.  The Mebane H&R Block office is owned and operated by R.J. Acquilano.  R.J. started in 1981 as a seasonal tax preparer and eventually became the district manager of the Alamance County H&R Block offices.  In September of 1998, R.J. purchased the Mebane franchise.  The following year he opened an office in Kingsdown Commons (formerly known as Deerfield Commons) on Highway 119 then moved the downtown office to Garrett Crossing next to Wal Mart.  When it is not the busy tax filing season one office is kept open year round to service clients whether it is to file tax returns, respond to IRS notices or answer questions.  R.J. is an Enrolled Agent which means that he has passed a rigorous test administered by the IRS and is allowed to represent clients in matters before the IRS.  Bookkeeping and payroll services are available at the Kingsdown Commons office.
