Dr. Lane Anderson announced that he had recently published a book, Care Enough to Discipline. The book can be purchased directly from the publisher, www.IvyHouseBooks.
Meeting Highlight:
Jackie Cole, a representative from the Woodlawn Community Board, told the group a little history of the Historic Woodlawn School, located on Mebane Rogers Road. The school was established in the early 1900’s with 37 original students. In 1936, the school closed but the building was sold back to the community. In 1991 the school was listed on the National Historic Registry. The school has been restored, with new heating & AC, kitchen facilities and has a 99-person capacity. Future upgrades will include improved lighting and a sound system. The school is available for rental and Jackie encouraged the group to take advantage of the opportunity to rent the building for a very small fee.
The new e-mail policy was presented. A copy will be e-mailed to all members. If members want to send an e-mail to members, it should be sent to secretary, Jackie Brown for distribution.
Lisa Pennington presented the change in the Bylaws, Article IX, Amendments. A copy of the change is attached. On a motion by Jill Auditori, with second by Reggie Lipscomb, the Bylaws change was approved as presented.
Donna asked for volunteers to serve on an Events Committee to meet on Friday, September 11, 9 a.m. at Keller Williams conference room. The committee will help plan a membership drive and a community event.
